Count your Blessings
I wasn't sure what I should write about this week. I'm trying to keep a positive outlook on my life but it isn't always easy.
I have been told when you are going through tough times the best therapy is to make a list of your blessings.
So here goes, hopefully it will help me, and who knows, maybe it will help you too!
This list is not in any order of importance, just as I think of them.
Max, my Jack Russell Terrier came into my life last fall, when I was here in BC last year. He is now 16, still has way more energy than me. He's what keeps me going everyday. Not only is he a great companion (he doesn't talk back, lol), But he is very loyal. And everyday I wake up, and I still have him is a blessing.
My health: My health in many ways is not great, I've recently discovered I have arthritis in my hands, and it is very painful. Using the computer, and doing my arts/crafts, can be difficult at times. But hey, that is just one of the many challenges I have been given, and I think I'm up to it.
My Faith: I am so fortunate to have found my church here in Crofton. Warmland Community Church is not your conventional church, but it is my church, and attending each Sunday uplifts me and gives me strength for the week. Along with the church is my Monday evening Life Group, which allows me, along with a small group to explore the Bible, and life in depth. It too has enriched my life.
Crofton, my town: Sharon laughingly calls me Crofton's Mayor. While that is of course only a joke, I do have to admit, I have made more friends in my short time here, than I have probably in my whole life. I enjoy many activities through the Senior Center and the Crofton Auxiliary. Crofton, to me, is a magical place. I only have to step out my door, and gaze upon the beauty of the ocean, the mountains, and all the green. It does wonders for my soul.
Friends: Most importantly of course is Sharon, without whom, I wouldn't even be here. Every time she comes by, or I talk to her on the phone, I realize how blessed I am to have met such an incredible person. Rita- the lady with whom used to go for walks with is a lady with the kindest most generous heart. She has many struggles of her own, but she always manages a smile and a warm hello. It is she to whom I am grateful for introducing me to Warmland Church; Christine is a new friend I just met when I came back. She lives directly across from me, and has a dog too, whose name is "Doggie"! She too is a lovely person, and always has a cheerful outlook. She loves Max, and is always encouraging me in whatever I do.
I have many more good friends, here at Twin Gables and in Crofton, which I will discuss further in the future.
My Family: while I rarely hear from my kids, as I told my daughter Jennifer one day, the fact remains, I'm still their mother, and no one can take that from me. I do miss them, and my grandchildren, but truthfully I don'tsee or hear from them any less now, then when I lived in Ontario. My Brothers, Roy & Bob, I am a very lucky sister to have such great guys as brothers.
I am thankful to God every day for all of my family.
My hobbies: The computer and my art/crafts. These are the two things I can turn to when everything else seems to be unreachable. I am actually grateful to Sharon for asking me to step in a do the newsletter again; it gives me some purpose in life.
The WWWCOF, what can I say, that hasn't already been said. What an absolutely incredible group of people. While there is much negativity surrounding the internet, certainly none of that can be found with our wonderful circle. Thanks to each and every one of you for being a part of my life.
Hey, guess what, I feel better already! Try it yourself, and see if it doesn't work for you too!
Until next time,

Feature Story of the Week

The Bells in Heaven just made a New Sound. The Beauty there is All Around.
A Choir of Angels Praising God's Love. He always imagined being Above.
Jesus took His Hand and Lead Him to the Gate. Then Saint Peter told him "Here You Will Wait."
Yes His Name is Written in "The Book". Jesus took his hand and said "Come Take a Look."
He took one Look Back as He Finally Let Go. Now is His Time, this He Did Know.
The things of the World have all "Passed Away." Now in a "Glorious Place" he will Stay.
There are Angels around and they really have Wings, The most caught his eye, the "Ones Who Would Sing."
He looked at the Wonder beyond Belief. He noticed he now, has Complete Relief.
Things have changed and Purity is here. Sin is now Gone and will Never be Near.
"Over here" an Angel called, "This is Your Place. Come Here in the Choir, We Saved Your Space. "
So now Sherley's Life has become Complete. He is with God and at Jesus' Feet.
WRITTEN BY: CHARLA LINDER SIMMONS DEDICATED TO: SHERLEY ST PIERRE MAY 22, 2008
The tree is so pretty , it will be beautiful when it gets bigger and blooms. His 3 sons dug the hole for the tree, thy put 3 stakes to brace it, it is in the front yard, so i can see it from my comp.it was a beautiful day, Maxine read the poem from Charla , she had a hard time to finish it. Vern did a very nice job on the speach on Sherley, we were about 24 here , just want to thank you all so much for being my friend and for thinking of Sherley, much love to all . Vern and Cindy just left to go home, takes about 11 hours
Sherley's sister told me there is a tree in downtown Chatham went to see it, it is just so beautiful, and so full of hanging blooms. She said it is prob. 25 years old it is about 15' by 15' so glad that is the one we have, now i have seen it, just perfect, cant wait for the blooms next year.
My mind is not there yet i forgot to thank Vern for the lovely service Sherley is pround about all the nice things that was said about him, he loves his friends. It was so nice how everone held hands around the tree(a circle of friends)while Vern was saying the service, brought us all closer together. This is when you need your friends all the more, will be so hard to go on alone, but i feel him with me. The night is the worse i can find stuff to do during the day , but at night it is so lonely, and so empty.
You are so nice, trying to help me, just read the www.cof letter we get every day, there are a few i talk to and e mail a lot, and they do it back. Got a nice e mail from lindalou yesterday , have never talked to her before. My old friends have not forgotten me, looks like i am having new ones too, i am glad. It is so lonely, not used to being alone, just hate it but will have to get used to it, i love it out here in the country, it is home to me i have been here 16 years. During the day it is fine i can do stuff,i water Sherley's tree every morning, when i get up at about 5 am ,i look at the one i saw in full bloom in downtown, and i just love it, so pretty, that was a perfect choice so glad about that, and i love the name like a connection to him with that name the chain.,Sherley's son and his wife came over and worked a bit of ground up for me, so i could have a little garden that was so nice of them.I have 5 cherry tomato plants, and a few rows of radish, and i will have weeds to hoe, but at night , it is the worse, HANG IN THERE WITH ME , day by day i guess, thank you all so very much for being my friend.

love to
you all, Lena from Ontario, Canada
Vern and I have just had the most amazing weekend ever. We left our home here in Phillipston, Ma. Thurs. morning at about 3:30 A.M. It was raining by the time we reached the Canadian border. We were very surprised that getting through the border was a breeze. The lady didn't even ask for our birth certificates. She just asked us if we had any alcohol or tobacco, and off we went.
We arrived at Maxine and Georges at around 4 P.M. After big hugs we sat and talked for about an hour, during which Tommy, their adorable little dog, totally avoided Vern no matter what he did and came and sat at my feet.
Then we followed Maxine and George to Lena's house to pick her up. Oh it was so good to see her! We chatted for a few mins. and then went down the street to a little neighborhood restaurant which has the most wonderful home cooking. We had ribs that were so delicious! We all had a very enjoyable visit then we went back to Lena's and talked till about 10:00. By now Vern & I were exhausted and headed for bed and Maxine and George headed for home. The next day we spent with Lena getting to really know each other and I'm so glad we had this time together. Having been in her situation myself, I know how overwhelming things can get at times. I think Lena is doing incredibly well. Of course it is extremely hard for her and she has her moments but over all she is doing very well under the circumstances.
Fri. night we went to a campground in Comber outside of Windsor where we got to meet some wonderful people! I never laughed so hard in my life! These people spend the summer going from one campsite to the next and they play and sing country music and have been doing it for years. There we met with George and Maxine and in walked Peachy Marie & Garnett. I recognized them right away from their pictures. More great hugs and such fun. We got a burger and fries, listened to some great country music and then Peachy invited us to their camper for Strawberry Rhubarb pie. Well, I can't turn that down. We gabbed for a bit then went back to the music tent and gathered up Lena and headed home as it was getting pretty cool and windy.
This part of Canada has the most beautiful farm lands. Such fertile soil. As a farm girl myself, I really appreciate a beautiful farm. Sherley's farm is about 100 acres which Lena tells me is a small farm compared to most up there. It is so flat and straight. Perfect for planting. They have a lovely old farm house that they have modernized and is so homey and beautiful.
I was raised on a 100 acre farm in N. H., but the land was so totally different. New Hampshire is so hilly and rocky compared to this part of Canada. I just love seeing all the differences when you travel and get to appreciate the beauty our Father has given us.
Sherley's son Larry stopped by and we got to meet him. Looks so much like his dad and has a wonderful smile. Just as warm and welcoming as everyone else. Sat. we were up early and getting ready for the Memorial Service. Everyone started arriving around noon for a 1:30 service.
Sherley's sisters and and his sons and families arrived. The boys planted the tree with a lot of help from Larry's wife who has a green thumb. Maxine read Charla's poem written in Sherley's honor. There wasn't a dry eye in the place. It was so beautiful! No surprise, we all know how talented our Charla is.
Vern spoke about Sherley and then we took pictures and went inside & Vern said a blessing & we all enjoyed coffee and many delicious treats. It was a very nice service and everyone left by 4:00.
Vern and I took a nap and sadly left Lena's about 8PM. for home. She was happy when we left because the doctor had called while we were napping and told her she had done a good job. She was so pleased to hear him say this to her. We all know Lena did a wonderful job taking care of Sherley. Anyone who knows Lena knows she could not do anything else, but she really needed him to tell her that. It seemed to lighten her spirits. It was good to see her smile like that.
We just had a wonderful time and everyone treated us like family. Getting to meet members of our Circle of Friends is such a great experience. I am so proud to be a member of such a caring, loving group of people. I thank God for the day I stumbled across this group so long ago.
I hope I get to meet you all some day. I know eventually I'll see you all in Heaven and we will have one joyous reunion there!
Vern and I want to thank Maxine & George . We love you guys. Have a safe journey. We're praying for you and your family. We want to thank Peachy and Garnett for the great pie. YUMMY! Thanks for the ride Garnett. Love your buggy! Thanks for giving up your seat for me Peachy.
Most of all Thanks Lena for having us in your home and sharing your love with us. We will never forget our time with you in Canada. We love ya gal! Butta!
Lena loves my accent. Of course it's not me with the accent, it's her!
Our Love to All,

Vern & Cindy Massachusetts, USA
Dearest Cindy & Vern.
I couldn't get through your email without tears of Pride and Joy! Pride that I belong to a group with such Loving caring people and Joy that God allowed you and Vern to be there for Lena. I believe this is where you were suppose to be. Your time there sounds wonderful. Please give Vern a huge Thank You from me for doing the memorial and A huge thanks goes to our Maxine for taking hold of what we couldn't from the states. It amazes me that all we have to do is make a call or send an email and the other just takes over where needed with no questions.A Huge Thanks to all who helped make this beautiful tree truly a act of Love for Lena.
I Loved talking to you on the phone while you were there and by the way "PLEASE PASS THE BUTTA."

WelshGoG aka Owen from Wales
One Man's Kingdom?
One such man came to a small valley in Wales, where minerals could be dug from the earth, and sold for profit elsewhere; and land could be bought quite cheaply upon which to build a home and his industries. Labourers could be recruited locally; building materials quarried from his land; and a local river harnessed to power his machines.
So this man bought land and employed people to dig stone from it to build a home for him, he opened a mine, and a quarry and employed more people to work in them. He established a mill at the side of his river and employed more folk to work there too. His mine and quarries were high on the mountainside; so the man devised and had built a system by which the coal and minerals could be brought down to his valley, from where they could more easily be transported. He decided that his workers should live nearer to his works and his mill, so decided that he would have built for them cottages - which he would rent to them. Now the man needed a shop, from which his workers could buy food, clothing and furniture, and an Inn, from which his workers could buy ale or spirits. Soon this man had his own little kingdom - in his own little valley.

You can see this man's kingdom in the picture above; his home is the large white building on the left, his mill is the large building on the right. The terrace of cottages the man built for his workers is partly obscured, but can be seen to the right of his home; while the Inn and shop that he built are close to, and on the left of his mill in the picture.
A quarry for building stone can be seen on the hillside above his home; but where, you ask are his mine and quarries? Well, those are behind me, where I stand, on the hill, admiring this man's kingdom!
Eventually, our man noticed that profits from the sale of his coal and minerals and the products of his mill were decreasing; so unfortunately he couldn't offer his workers an increase of pay; but, as they lived in his cottages, and bought food from his shop and ale from his inn, they didn't actually need money! He would give them instead tokens, which they could redeem for food and goods - anywhere within his kingdom; and in this way, our man could regain some of this lost money!!
However, each year, profits seemed to decline; while the cost of maintaining the cottages and of buying and transporting food and ale seemed to rise - so he was forced, unfortunately, to charge more tokens as rent and for the food that he sold. Would you believe it - his workers eventually started to leave his kingdom; they claimed that they were starving, that their children were ill from lack of nourishment - they were even prepared to take their indebtedness to him with them!!
After a few more years this man found that he could no longer get people to take employment with him, his mine and quarry closed for lack of men to work them. His mill lasted a while longer, but eventually suffered the same fate. His family grew up and moved away - eager to make their own mark upon the world and his kingdom gradually dwindled away.
What mark you ask did this man leave upon his world?

Well his fine home now provides shelter for elderly and infirm people who would struggle to look after themselves; though it no longer bears his name.
The workers cottages that he had built; were renovated and modernized (saved from ruin really), and each was sold for many times the annual profit of the man's kingdom. His inn and shop were demolished when the building became unsafe.
His mill, now no-longer powered by a water-wheel, is currently being used by a company who manufacture plastic pellets.
Of his mine little remains - indeed only the smoke stack for boilers that once existed to make steam for winding engines.

This mine has been lost for so long now that few even remember its name; though many can tell of the hardship that workers there endured. Limbs and lives this mine claimed in its day; when a tired miner grew careless at the end of a long shift, or when cost cutting left insufficient shoring in an area still worked.

Pictured above are the man's quarry, and the spoil heaps from his mine. Below are pictures which show all that is left of his devices for moving coal and minerals down into his valley.

Nature has now reclaimed much of this man's kingdom, as you can see.
Frogs and small fish live in the pool where his mine once stood; wild birds nest in the quarry where minerals once were extracted; trees, grass and shrubs grow in abundance over all of his works.
The owner? His name is remembered, though usually spoken with distaste, or contempt!

Several ladies at our church knit for Christian Mission International. Teddy bears jumpers, scarves, beanies, gloves and rugs are collected and sent by container to needy children in Eastern Europe, mainly Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Armenia.
Gift and hygiene packs are also made up and sent.
I've just found out about the craft morning which is held fortnightly, where some of the knitters meet and have a pleasant morning together. With my other commitments, I can only get there once a month.
I'll be going tomorrow, and have some items to contribute.

GIRLS IN MY CIRCLE
When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend. And then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, you will be shown the best in many friends.
One friend is needed when you're going through things with your partner.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your parents.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities. Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,' another, 'Let's fight together,' another, 'Let's walk away together ' One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings.
But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back, or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself........Those are your best friends.
It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many, it's wrapped up in several.....one from 6th grade, one from high school, some from the college years, a couple from old jobs.
On some days your mother. On some days your neighbor. On others, your sisters, cousins. And on some days, your daughters.
So whether they've been your friend for 20 minutes or 20 years, AND ONLY IF YOU'D LIKE TO, pass this on to the women who have been placed in your life to make a difference,
And don't forget to send it back to the one who gave it to you, if they have made a difference in your life.
'Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain'.

Featured Pet of the Week
THIS WEEKS FEATURED PET IS:
Daphne's Granddog BEBE

Hi Jami,
Here is what I got from Romina about her little dog Bebe. I think I mentioned once that that little lady suffers from epileptic fits, in fact she had the first while we were in Spain with them, after I had spent some time tossing a ball or bits of rag for her to go fetch. After that attack I was told not to play with her anymore, hard when she was made for playing at 18 months old!!.Well Romina has kept me up to date on Bebe's condition saying she has attacks even without getting excited, and is under Vet care.
This is what she told me in her last message:
"Bebe is the same or worse with her problem. She had started to take "bromuro of potasium" which we were told, heightens the antiepileptic medication she has been taking. This cost us 40 Euros for 120 dosis (two months supply). The problem is that since she has been taking this, she is worse. She has diarrea, and when she had an attack she lost control and ended up in her own muck. Apparently this is normal when they are under attacks but it has never happened with Bebe before this. Well, we decided to stop giving her this, and now it seems she has halucinations, and her hair stands up on her back as if she is seeing ghosts or something. It makes me afraid, as if she can see something that we can't. Anyway, this part only seems to happen before or after one of her attacks."
We were wondering if any other pet owner have or have had this problem and what is the best advice they can give. Bebe is just over 2 years old now.
Take care Jami, talk to you again soon.
hugs, Daphne

REUNION ARGENTINA OCTOBER 2008
Large Family.
My brother has equal number of sisters as he has brothers, yet I have twice as many brothers as I have sisters. How many are we?
Look for the answer elsewhere in the newsletter!!
With little more than four months to go before Reunion 2008, those of us in the host country, are still waiting to know how many have confirmed their flight, especially if we want to take full advantage of group bookings and possible discounts once here.
If it wasn't for last minute nothing would ever get done!!!
Who are we going to add to this group for reunion 2008
For a decent restaurant meal visitors can expect to pay upwards of 10 US$ (a McDonald's meal would be about 6 US$)
I have put all the prices into US dollars for your convenience though of course you would actually pay in Argentine pesos 1 US dollar is just over 3 Argentine pesos 100 US dollars would give you about 310 pesos, but please wait till you get here before changing your cash
Inscription Form
We are still waiting to get estimates of minibus to take us everywhere, but all the companies insist on knowing how many they have to cater for. When we have an approximate price of this vital element, then we can calculate roughly how much visitors can expect to spend once here
For more details and estimated costs , email Daphne
The inscription form to take part in this unforgettable event can be found here: Inscription Form Look forward to getting lots of them!!

IMPROVE YOUR KNIFE SKILLS IN THE KITCHEN
1. Forget what celebrity and iron chefs do with knives - they're professionals. They do it for a living. Sure, it looks real fancy when they go at almost the speed of light chopping onions or parsley, but those routines take much practice and special skills to perfect.
2. Purchase good knives and keep them sharp. Learn how to use a steel or honing stone.
3. Don't hold a knife in such a manner that draws the sharp edge towards you. Too many people have been hurt slicing a bagel in half.
4: When slicing round ingredients like onions, first cut them in half. Then place the flat end on the cutting surface and slice or chop. Trying to steady round items while chopping or slicing means a trip to the hospital.
5. Always curl fingertips in and under your knuckles to hold the item you're cutting.
6. Wield a knife at your own pace. Don't worry about going slow. Keeping your fingers safe is more important.
7. Learn how to rock a knife rather than drawing it across the object like a saw. For example, when slicing carrots place the knife tip on the cutting surface and lift only the handle leaving the tip of the blade on the surface, then rock the knife. It's this technique that makes celebrity chefs look so cool and fast.
8. Keep a first-aid kit in the kitchen in case you need it.

PLANET KRYZYS, our Planet awareness site: has been updated with a novelty tree Jan of Australia, discovered on a walk. There are lots of interesting member notes in there
We must look after our planet….. it IS the only one with chocolate!!
Speaking of trees, this is one of the tree-related articles in there
Trees Save Energy
Strategically placed shade trees can reduce heating & cooling expenses by 10% to 50%. A single mature tree provides the cooling equivalent of five average air conditioners running 12 hours per day.
Trees reduce city temperatures 3 to 10 degrees.
Trees reduce glare on sunny days.
Trees are Good For Our Health
- Shade trees provide protection from the harmful sun's rays.
- Trees filter air contaminants, clean our air.
- Trees provide privacy, promote healing & create a sense of relaxation and well-being.
- Trees reduce noise pollution and soften harsh urban views.
- Trees add beauty and natural character to our cities.
- Trees absorb C02 and other dangerous gases while replenishing our atmosphere with oxygen.
- Trees in good health can remove up to 50 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air every year.
- A 32 ft tall Ash tree can provide 260Lbs of oxygen a year. Two trees are enough to supply the oxygen for each person every year.
- 120 to 240 lbs of small particles and gases are absorbed by each mature tree a year.
- Trees reduce surface water runoff from storms.
- Trees reduce the amount of grease and oil transported to streams, a major source of ocean pollution.
- Trees reduce soil erosion and sedimentation of streams.
- Trees increase ground water recharging that is reduced by urban paving.
- Trees shade other plants reducing their water requirements.
A new Nature Photo contest has started and as fitting with our Planet awareness site, it is of course nature based, and the theme this time is Nature's SKY. You have plenty of time to watch out for those sunsets, cloud formations, rainbows, storms, night skies etc etc
Photos sent in just have to be members' own or members 'family and friends. Look forward to seeing what you all come up with.
The Circle's Computer help site has had some new articles added recently sent in by Pat. "THERE'S A PLACE"
There's a place I like to go, the times I'm feeling Low.
Where God Wants Me
It's a place no one else can see, It's just a place for me.
This place is not for others nor is it to be shared. I love to be there, because I feel, someone really cared.
In this place there are no tears nor are there saddened days. It only has smiles and laughter and many happy ways.
If everyone could go there and share this awesome place, there would never be any anger or any sadden face.
You see you have to close your eyes and think of only peace, then all the worries and stress you have, will soon begin to cease.
I can not show you where this is or take you by the hand, you have to go there by yourself, into your own sweet land.
I wish you luck and joy and love and happiness for sure because I know when you get there, you will have your cure.

EYE TEST

More than likely you said, 'A bird in the bush,' and . .
if this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see that the word THE is repeated twice! Go ahead, look again.
Next,
let's play with some words. .
What
do you see?
In
black you can read the word GOOD, in white the word EVIL (inside each
black letter is a white letter). It's all very physiological too, because
it visualizes the concept that good can't exist without evil (or the
absence of good is evil )..
Now,
what do you see?
You
may not see it at first, but the white spaces read the word optical, the
blue landscape reads the word illusion. Look again! Can you see why this
painting is called an optical illusion?
What
do you see here?
This
one is quite tricky! The word TEACH reflects as
LEARN.
Last
one. What do you
see?

You
probably read the word ME in brown, but . . when you look through ME you
will see YOU! Do you need to look again?

Common Expressions - Origin & Meaning
Die-hard
Meaning
A person who holds stubbornly to a minority view, in defiance of the circumstances.
Origin
The title of the 1988 film Die Hard was chosen to signify both the 'hardness' of the lead character and the difficulty that he and the bad guys had in killing each other. In choosing not to hyphenate 'die-hard', which is the currently accepted spelling, they reverted to the original meaning of the term - to 'die hard' was to die reluctantly, resisting to the end. This meaning of the term was recorded in 1703, in Psychologia: or, an Account of the Nature of the Rational Soul. The text argues the pros and cons of a condemned man's approach to death:
Against this Reason he [William Coward] urges the case of those that die hard, as they call it, at Tyburn who will therefore, according to him, out-brave the Terrors of the Lord.
Tyburn, near what is now Marble Arch, in London, was the principal location for public hangings in England until 1785. The 'drop' method of hanging wasn't then in use and the process was sometimes a prolonged affair. There are records showing that some of those who were about to be hanged opted to take the opposite course to the 'die hards' and paid people to hang onto their legs so that they died quickly. There's no evidence however for the commonly repeated notion that this is the derivation of the phrase 'pulling one's leg'.
The wider use of the term came into being in the following century. At the Battle of Albuhera in the Peninsula War in 1811, William Inglis, the commander of the British 57th Regiment of Foot, ordered all ranks "Die hard the 57th, die hard!", i.e. to fight until the last. The regiment later became known as the Die-hards.
In the early 20th century, 'die-hard' was more usually used to describe a member of the political faction who were prepared to 'die in the last ditch' in their resistance to the Home Rule Bill of 1912. In 1922, the meaning took a step away from actual deaths, toward our present-day figurative meaning, when the members of the Conservative Party who followed the leadership of the Marquess of Salisbury named themselves 'The Die-hards'.
Like 'zigzag', 'meanwhile', and countless other terms which are coined as two words, later to become hyphenated and later still to merge into a single word, the 'diehard' spelling will probably come to be preferred before long.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings. DO YOU KNOW.. the difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting! Both have the same amount of calories..
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating
butter increases the absorp tion of many other nutrients in other foods.Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few
only because they are added!
Butter
tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.
And now, for Margarine..
Very high in trans fatty acids.
Triple risk of coronary heart disease.
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.
Lowers quality of breast milk.
Decreases immune response.
Decreases
insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!
Margarine
is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC..This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself:
Purchase
a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area.
Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:
*
no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it
(that should tell you something)
*
it does not rot or smell differently because it has

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would
Add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.
Four worms were placed into four separate jars.
The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.
At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:
The first worm in alcohol - Dead.
The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead
Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead
Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.
So the Minister asked the congregation -
What can you learn from this demonstration?
Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,
'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'
That pretty much ended the service

Pray for Others
1 Timothy 2:1,2 says to offer prayer, supplication, intercession, and giving of thanks on behalf of all men. Yet we sometimes neglect to pray for others because we concentrate so much on our own interests.
How often do we think to pray for others, whether or not they request our prayers? Bible prayers are filled with requests and thanksgiving for people other than the one offering the prayer.
Please visit Charla's Prayer Request Page to Pray for Others.
