Straight from my heart ...
A change of seasons is a great time to reflect on the past season(s) of the year and to plan what to do or not to do for the next one.
Personally speaking, 2005 has been brutal for me -- all the seasons to date, Winter, Spring and Summer -- particularly as the reality sets in that my 34 years of marriage has ended. For the past several months I have been struggling with sadness, disappointment and frustration .... all those years of planning, the working towards and dreaming about retirement ... everything has abruptly changed. I will just have to learn to live my own dreams.
I have always had a passion for life and people have always been my motivator so I will strive to re-capture this. I need to work on being truly thankful for what I have and not regretful about what I don't have. So positive self-talk is my resolution for the upcoming season -- actually an ongoing lifetime resolution. My plan is to concentrate on all the things I have; my children (who are my greatest accomplishment in life), my health and my friends.
I read somewhere or heard from someone to believe in yourself and to be a survivor. I will try to heed this advise and I will try hard at working on my own imperfect self and to again become a happy woman, mother and friend. I know that I would not have found the courage to even be thinking these things if it was not for the emotional support I have been receiving from the members of the World Wide Web Circle of Friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I LOVE YOU Sharon

- We have a group of crafters where I live and we meet every Thursday. Next month we are starting to make Quilts for a place in our town called "House of Hope" this is a place where children are taken when they are removed from their home, because of drug abusing parents.
These children are taken without any of their belongs, because of the type drugs that are being used. We are calling our quilts "Quilts of Comfort"

An Eye Opener on Ovarian Cancer. Mary from Ontario, Canada hopes we take the time to read this and pass it on to all we can. This is the story of Kathy West.
I, Kathy West, have Primary Peritoneal Cancer. This cancer has only recently been identified as its OWN type of cancer, but it is essentially Ovarian Cancer.
Both types of cancer are diagnosed in the same way, with the "tumour marker" CA-125 BLOOD TEST, and they are treated in the same way – surgery to remove the primary tumour and then chemotherapy with Taxol and Carboplatin.
Having gone through this ordeal, I want to save others from the same fate. That is why I am sending this message to you and hope you will print it and give it or send it via E-mail to everybody you know.
One thing I have learned is that each of us must take TOTAL responsibility for our own health care. I thought I had done that because I always had an annual physical and PAP smear, did a monthly Self-Breast Exam, went to the dentist at least twice a year, etc. I even insisted on a sigmoidoscopy and a bone density test last year. When I had a total hysterectomy in 1993, I thought that I did not have to worry about getting any of the female reproductive organ cancers.
LITTLE DID I KNOW. I don't have ovaries (and they were HEALTHY when they were removed), but I have what is essentially ovarian cancer. Strange, isn't it?
These are just SOME of the things our Doctors never tell us: ONE out of every 55 women will get OVARIAN or PRIMARY PERITONEAL CANCER. The "CLASSIC" symptoms are an ABDOMEN that rather SUDDENLY ENLARGES and CONSTIPATION and/or DIARRHEA.
I had these classic symptoms and went to the doctor. Because these symptoms seemed to be "abdominal," I went to a gastroenterologist. He ran tests that were designed to determine whether there was a bacteria infection; these tests were negative, and I was diagnosed with "Irritable Bowel Syndrome." I guess I would have accepted this diagnosis had it not been for my enlarged abdomen. I swear to you, it looked like I was 4-5 months pregnant! I therefore insisted on more tests.
They took an X-ray of my abdomen; it was negative. I Was again assured that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome and was encouraged to go on my scheduled month-long trip to Europe. I couldn't wear any of my slacks or shorts because I couldn't get them buttoned, and I KNEW something was radically wrong. I INSISTED on more tests, and they reluctantly) scheduled me for a CT-Scan (just to shut me up, I think). This is what I mean by "taking charge of our own health care." The CT-Scan showed a lot of fluid in my abdomen (NOT normal).
Needless to say, I had to cancel my trip and have FIVE POUNDS of fluids extracted. Scary I assure you, but NOTHING compared to what was ahead of me). Tests revealed cancer cells in the fluid.
Finally, finally, finally, the doctor ran a CA-125 blood test, and I was properly diagnosed. I HAD THE CLASSIC SYMPTOMS FOR OVARIAN CANCER, AND YET THIS SIMPLE CA-125 BLOOD TEST HAD NEVER BEEN RUN ON ME, not as part of my annual physical exam and not when I was symptomatic. This is an inexpensive and simple blood test!

- Do you have a crochet pattern for houseshoes. I thought about making them for my mother that is in the nursing home, if simple I could make for others also. Mom needs them in the bed to keep from having pressure wounds. Linda from Florida
- Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness andto seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us ! from every sin and set us free. Amen!"
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa and Korea.
Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called "one nation under God."
If possible, please pass this prayer on to your friends. "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for everything."

An Oriental algae threatens the Patagonic Coastline
An algae originating in the east that arrived in Chubut (Southern Argentina) attached to ships from Korea, has been invading the seabed for over ten years in the golfs around Valdez Peninsula, where it is causing large ecological and economical damage. The scientific name is “ Undaria Pinnatifida” and it has its origens in Japan, Southern China and Korea, where it is cultivated for human consumption since the 1960s. It was first detected in Puerto Madryn in 1992, and has since covered the seabed blocking the native flora and fauna, since it reaches a height of 1.70 meters, and so doesn’t let any solar light in. It also makes sport diving difficult, gives off a bad smell and dirties the beaches.
Specialists say that if it invades the shell fish banks it will cause enormous economical damage. The advance of the plague seems to have no solution, at least no in a short term, since once it is established , it is impossible to get rid of. As an example it wwas shown that if it is difficult to eleiminate a plague on earth’s surface without damaging the rest of the flora and fauna, how much more so on the seabed.. And, since no one knows how to control this plague, the algae is threatening to cause an exodus of salmon species since they cannot get to their caves. It is taking away the attraction of skindiving – a place usually considered a paradise for this sport – and threatening sea anenomaes, star fish and shellfish. Tides also throw the algae onto the beaches, putting off tourists due to its sickly smell

I hope you have enjoyed this week's issue which I would like to close with the following suggestion which I received from Charla from Florida and we would really like to received your input on this.

Charla has several people who contact her for prayer. She wants to know if we can have a "Special Spot" in the Global for prayer requests. She also suggests that if someone needs prayer and doesn't want to share the problem we could have a spot for "UNSPOKEN PRAYER REQUEST." Charla would like anyone who wants to be a prayer warrior to please send her their name and why they want to be one. For example:
Charla Simmons ........ I want to join the WWWCOF Prayer Warriors because I believe in the needs of others and I believe prayer is the best healer in all walks of life.
Rules:
- Warriors must never discuss prayer requests sent by email and asked not to tell. If we get a person who wants prayer and wants to share with you but no one else then we keep it as their decision. Add the name, if allowed, to the weekly prayer requests.
- What we discuss between the warriors is only to stay with us. We can have a time to meet on here to discuss the needs or whatever you think.
- Never have any negative discussion with anyone who does not believe in God or prayer. Stand lovingly for what you believe.
- Respect the beliefs of others and if you don't agree, then pray for them.
- Make sure everyone knows this is on a volunteer basis only.
- No one has to participate if they don't want to.
Let Charla know what you think. She feels that God has laid this on her heart and she thinks that maybe this is what she is supposed to do instead of the Alone Page .......... only 2 people have ever emailed her about this site.
