GLOBAL EXPRESS
Hello again everyone! Last week's Global Express got published in time. Yippeeee! A couple of things that should of been included were not (my error) and for that I do apologize but they have been published in this week's issue. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who emailed me, Sharon with their comments. I look forward to all emails -- bouquets and beefs -- so that we can work on suggestions for improvements.
Publishing the newsletter is something I always enjoyed doing and looked forward to publishing it every week. I am far from expert at it but rest assured it is a labour of love that requires input from the membership to ensure its success and I will be calling on you for your help. I am overwhelmed by the response for contributions to this week's edition and I am so grateful to everyone for contributing.
Have you heard about Therapy Dogs? Red Deer Linda tells me that her daughter, Terryl's, Nova Scotia Duck Toller Keona wins over the residents at retirment homes with his pink nose and red fur.
Ruth tells me that she is a Nascar fan and that Jeff Gordon won the 2007 Championship.
This past weekend, of course, was a big football weekend in North America. Norma said everyone around her home will be cheering for the Saskatchewan Roughriders when they go against the Winipeg Blue Bombers for the CFL Greycup. Their cheering worked as Saskatchewan won the Grey Cup, beating Winnipeg 23-19 in Toronto.
Onto our regular features and back by popular demand tis week are Quizzes, Random Acts of Kindness, International Weather Station, Something to Think About, Featured Story of the Week and Bragging Rights - do be sure to check them out. What else would you like to see?
Don't forget to check the Birthday Calendar to see which members are celebrating special days next week. Happy Birthday or Anniversary to everyone celebrating and we look forward to hearing all about your special day. If you are not listed in the calendar please be sure to email Jami and/or Bigsis Pat so they can add you.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We did. As usual, ate more than we should .....
We have been having bad weather here again. We even had ice. Is the weather bad your way? We are having the coldness rain right now. If it gets cooler, it will either be snow or more ice. The ice can stay away. I would love to see snow. We had such high winds that Cox was constantly having problems with the internet and phone service. I think I was on the computer once in 4 days. Plus Michael was off all weekend so not much free time .......
We give our dogs a plate at Thanksgiving and Christmas both. Email me for pictures Deanna
--------------------
Just a little what I did with our Thanksgiving holiday? Seem like I rush around all the week before Thanksgiving getting all the goodies and such. Monday night was my Guild Meeting and Nancy I went over to Janet together was very wet and cold I hate it when it like that. My Secret Pal from the Guild gave me a CD of Celine Dion new CD Taking Chances, Celine Dion is one of my favorite singer. On Tuesday my friend Nancy and I was out all day shopping. We hit several stores just to find all the goodies we wanted.
Then on Wednesday I canceled a doctor appointment and rescheduled so I could stay home to bake pies. I did four pies. 2 Paradise Pumpkin Pie (I use squash as George or I neither one like pumpkin) 1 Lemon Meringue Pie and 1 Mincemeat Pie ( George favorite) It is traditional for me to make a mincemeat for him and my mincemeat is home made (Green Tomato Mincemeat).
Then the Big Day arrived THANKSGIVING DAY. I spend the morning straighten up the house, while George had to work at the Store from 8:00 to 1:30, and then at 12:30 put the 12 pound turkey in the oven with stuffing of course. Homemade stuffing even baked my own stuffing bread. The night before I had prepared the butternut squash and all had to do was warm it up. Mix up green bean casserole. Try a new cranberry salad. It is very simply and very yummy also did this the night before as it tastes better if it has set for 24 hours.
Cranberry Salad
- 1 un-peeled Orange
- 2 un-peeled red delicious apples
- 1 bag cranberry frozen or fresh
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1- 3 ounce box of raspberry jello
- 1 1/3 cup hot water
- 20 ounce can of un-drained pineapple
Mix all together and chill for several hours
Then at 5:00 our guests arrived. Another traditional for George and I is something we have done every year since we lost our folks. We invite friends in that are not going anywhere for Thanksgiving or are without family on this day.
We invited Nancy and Phil our neighbors who live just around the corner from us. Their two boys live in other states and did not come home for Thanksgiving. Daniel lives in upper State New York and David is working in San Francisco. The other couple we invited are good friends also Renee and Chuck and there two boys were both doing other things for Thanksgiving so they were on their own so we invited them at the last moment. Not a problem for George and me we always cook so much. We could have fed several more people. Seem like every year we have different people it never seems like we have the same group which is nice. Nothing feel so good then to extend your home for the bounty of good food and fellowship.
I hope all had a wonderful THANKSGIVING as I did.
GOD BLESS Ruth
--------------------
We had Aunt Peachy Marie, Uncle Garnet, Dad (Mom flmarie is in NC) Jonna, John Haley & Myself. We had Ham with pineapple glaze, Turkey with dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, sweet potato & pumpkin pie & apple pie.
I know the feeling I am still full & that was yesterday. Had a wonderful day ... Missed Mother. Charla
--------------------
Turkey has been embedded in my mind, since Thanksgiving. I have leftovers from my daughter's dinner, leftovers at work, and my housemate brought some home from dinner at his daughter's. I think I've had my fill until Christmas rolls around. Emma from Maryland
--------------------
I used to listen to Teddy Bear's Picnic on Sat. on the radio It was sponsored by Buster Brown Shoes. Do you remember "Plunk your magic twanger Froggy!" He would say "Hi Ya Kids, Hi Ya!" I remember sitting in front of our radio with my brothers & sister so enthralled by the stories etc.
Then we couldn't wait to go to Kenny's Shoe Store in Concord, N.H. to get our Buster Brown Shoes.
Does anyone remember PF Flyers. We always thought that if we got these sneakers on we would run like the wind. Ya know I feel sorry for kids now days. Having an imagination is not part of childhood like it used to be for us. In general Kids didn't have so many "things" back then and we just played and used our imaginations. You could go anywhere and do anything cause we just imagined it and there you were!
I play like this with my grandchildren and they love it. Guess I still have that urge to be a kid again. I think it's too bad we all have to grow up and loose our ability to "Make Believe". I think every once in a while we all need to play with a kid and feel that wonderful feeling of letting our minds "pretend". I think we'd all be happier. The "Real World" is such a harsh place and it's so much fun to find that release in play. Have a tea party with our kids, or play hide and go seek, or fly away to far away places & hunt for wild animals in the jungle etc.
Let's all go play marbles, hopscotch, jacks, giant steps, 1,2,3, Red Light, hide and go seek & if your lucky enough to have snow, a snowball fight, make a fort, build up a big supply of snowballs and "let ER rip!" Build a snowman, go slidding! We have huge slidding parties many times during the winter. Everyone comes in with red cheeks and cold hands and we have hot cocoa and snacks and it's so much fun!
Yesterday my twin granddaughters and I put up my Christmas Tree while playing Christmas Carols. We had so much fun! Then Last night we all went Christmas shopping. This was the first time I'd been out shopping since my surgery and they pushed me in my wheelchair all around the stores. By the time we got home I was beat! It had been a long day and I was pooped. Of course the girls were still going strong! So they wrapped gifts for me! It was such a wonderful day and one that will go down in my memory book as one of the best.
I'm so proud of my grandchildren! All of them have become such wonderful people. The older ones are all teen age 14-20 and they take such wonderful care of us. Even our foster grand daugher, Ruby, comes over to check on me and see if there is anything she can do for me.
Today we have a birthday party for our great grandson Cody. He was 3 yesterday! Of course he is very special to Vern and I, because we have taken care of him for my son who has custody of him, for a couple of years now. For the past three weeks others have taken over till I'm recovered from my surgery. I've missed having him, but he's right next door every day. My granddaughter Sarah picks him up from his sitters after school, so I get to see him almost every day. I just can't believe he is 3 already!
Seems only yesterday Sarah who is almost 18 now was only turning 3! Now she's such a beautiful young woman. She has been giving me my anticoagulant shot daily. I don't mind doing it myself, but I asked her if she'd like to learn to do it and at first she was reluctant to shoot her grandma in the belly, but I assured her that it didn't hurt me at all. The needle is so tiny, you don't even feel it! So she took over after watching me the first time and has done most of them now. I get my last one tonight. Yeh!!! Have a great day everyone! Love Ya All!!! Cindy
--------------------
Cindy thank you of the wonderful vision of you with your "SPECIAL GIRLS." The day sounds wonderful. I am blessed to play with Haley this way. We like to go out back and get grass & coffee lids and mix a cake and cover it with coconut (grass) we say it's toasted is why it's green. We do have tea parties at least once a week. There's Haley, me, (dolls) Kate, Baby Rose, Sarah, Becky, Katrina, Baby Alive, and then a set of twins that she keeps changing their names. We go shopping in the living room and eat lunch outside. It indeed is a rewarding time. This makes all the rest worth while. Charla
--------------------
When I was about 10 or so I would do everything in my power to tear up those dumb "SADDLED OXFORDS" they were the best made shoes in the world!! Then Dad decided ok you don't have to wear those next time we will buy "BUSTER BROWN." Not! I will wear the Saddled Oxfords! Charla
--------------------
I saw the pic and it really had me rolling about laughing. Emma's work I suppose! I haven't shown it to Leo yet, will do when he comes in hahahaha. AND I think I will also steal it and add it to the cookbook!! Daphne
--------------------
As far as work, I only work the weekends, so I don't get any extra time off with them being away. In fact, I have to put in extra time this week -- I had a training today, and another one Friday morning. They're both renewals, so at least they won't last the full 4 hours each, as the original trainings did. It was raining a little here when they left this morning, and started pouring a little while ago. I sure hope they have better weather in Florida. Emma
--------------------
Not much to share from Indiana. My husband, Shawn, and I will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary in two weeks (December 12) at Disney, I can hardly wait! Shaw is absolutely my best friend! We have literally grown up together and the experience has been wonderful!
A big thank you for all your hard work in keeping us in touch with each other. I wrote a book on weight loss and just sent it off to the copyright office (I lost 144 pounds and I am in my third year of maintenance) and I am in the process of putting together a program to help others like me lose their weight safely without drugs or surgery. I plan to begin helping others in January, just putting the finishing touches on the program. Georgene

Random Acts of Kindness
Our day was great (Nov. 24). Jonna & Haley & I went to town shopping for things for Jonna's apartment and out to lunch and back to our place got John and the rest of Jonna's things from the week. We took her to her new apartment where she got a couch unexpected from a lady from her church she didn't even know lived a few apts. from her. The ladie's husband came home today with a pull out sleeper couch. She asked why would he do that she had one. Now where were they going to put it. Then we got there and we all knew why God sent him home with it. Isn't that awesome? Him & His friend moved it to Jonna's. We left and Haley was somewhat upset on the way home but we started looking at Christmas lites & I started talking about Baby Jesus and she was fine. Got home & she had to call Mommy and then I rubbed her back until she fell to sleep. So our day was great. Charla--------------------

CHUBUT
This southern, charming province of pleasant landscape, cultures and nature is made up of 4 regions, and has activities for everyone.
- The Andes region: made up of 7 Andes towns surrounded by 12 lakes and is well known for it mountain activities especially the ski centre "La Hoya", and for its Protected Nature Areas in the Andes forest, for its lovely trip on the historic vapour train "La trochita". It also has two National Parks. Activities include 4x4 excursions, adventure tourism circuits and the famous fly fishing, as well as hundreds of other activities and cultural outings where the original settlers play an important part to make this a unique journey.
- Mesetas Region: Unites the coast with the mountain chain with a landscape of incredible colours dominated by the River Chubut.
- Peninsula Valdes Region: where the Nature Protected areas fill us with emotion with the whale sightings, millions of penguins, sea wolves and sea elephants among others. All this in a region where the Welsh customs are still active with their delightful arquitecture and museums showing of undersea life and the history of dinosaurs. You can visit the many Tea houses and have a traditional Welsh tea served by Welsh people

Scottish Pancakes/Breakfast idea
WWWCOF COOKBOOK
Yield: 12 Servings
Scots pancakes are cooked on a hot griddle and are entirely different to crepes (also known as pancakes in Britain). submitted by David of UK
- 8 Oz plain white flour
- 2 Tsp bicarbonate of soda
- Large pinch of salt
- 1 Tbl castor sugar
- 2 Tbl oil
- 1 egg
- Milk to mix
Sift all the flour and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl.
Add in the castor sugar, oil, egg and a little milk.
Stir into the flour and add enough milk to make a thick creamy mixture, approximately the consistency of very thick double cream.
Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the hot griddle and cook until they bubble on top.
Turn and cook on the other side until golden brown.
While cooking the rest of the mixture store the cooked pancakes between the folds of a small towel.
Serve the warm pancakes with butter and preserves.
In the unlikely event of there being any left-overs they should be kept in an air tight container.
Our WWWCOF Cookbook has recently been updated with a further 50 recipes, and we still have room for many more so we would love to add your favourites.
If you cannot find your recipe either in the main cookbook, or the Seasonal Regional section, try looking in its own site search engine to make finding specific recipes easy, (eg. By origin, ingredient, recipe type etc.) Failing that, email Daphne and let her know and she'll do my best to put the matter right.

Be sure to take a moment to sign up in our google board too, lots of fun and a great way to get to know the members better!

Feature Story of the Week
Florida Marie's Trip to North Carolina
My Daughter Karen and I went to North Carolina over Thanksgiving week to welcome my Granddaughter Jamie home from Baghdad.

Florida Marie & her granddaughter, Jami
This was indeed a miracle from God! About 6 months ago Jamie and another woman were in a trailer and they heard rockets, as they looked outside they knew it was bombs. They started running and the explosions got closer so they just kept running faster. After it was over they looked back and the trailer they were in was blown to bits! They both have special bracelets honoring them. Jamie is a Nurse Sergeant in the MASH unit where the worst of the injured come. She has seen it all and more than I am sure she wanted to. Although she keeps her composure about being a Nurse and every minute could mean some ones life. Jamie is a very special woman to all her family and friends. After all she is jeopardizing her life for us.

Great Granny Florida Marie with Jamie's son, Davien
We left Friday November 16, and all week before we left and during our time of travel, I had an awful feeling. I figure my feeling was because we saw one wreck as we were going up to my grandson Geoffery's. There was some traffic going North but lot's more coming South.

My daughter Karen with Geoffery's son Michael
We drove right to Geoffery's front door and Karen called him to tell him we were lost. As he was concerned and trying to figure where we were, his Mom Karen, told him to open his front door and he would see us. His face lit up and we were so happy to see him as he was us. We hugged and cried and they carried in luggage. We saw the Great grandkids. My little Michael is so cute, he is so small and just toddling all around. Davien is growing and such a Handsome Little "Man." Hailey Geoffery's daughter, has grown so much and so pretty.

Great Granny and Davien (Jami's son)
We rested Saturday from our drive and then Sunday morning bright and early we headed for the airport to get Jamie.

Florida Marie's daughter Karen and Geoffery's children, Hailey and Michael
She was arriving at 6:30 am so we had to be up at 4:00 am because we had to be there 2 hours before her plane arrived. Then of course you always have a late flight and YES it was Jamie's. She didn't arrive until after 8:00 am. They had to be in formation as they came in and no pictures allowed. Her Mother, Karen was yelling Sergeant Jamie Landon over & over and Geoffery and I were crying our eyes out! It was such an emotional event. Geoffery (after being over there and knowing what she was up against) was so happy his sister and only sibling was home.

Florida Marie's granddaughter, Jami
He was running around with his camera trying to see her. Soon as he did he started snapping her picture. ( wasn't suppose to be...go Geoffery!) Finally they let them come to where we were and after a few cracked ribs and crushed lungs from tight hugs, we went to where the Army had set up coffee, sandwiches, cheese, crackers, and cookies for all of us. Very nice of them. No one was allowed to leave the hall until all their weapons were turned in. After what seemed like "Forever," we were homebound with Jamie.

Jami and Mom Karen (Jami's son)
Of course the rest of the day/evening was phone calls and talking and laughing. We had Thanksgiving together and it was truly a reason to give thanks. As the week went on we went shopping, out to eat and the normal vacation things, site seeing and such. Now it was time for more hugs more kisses and more tears. It was time for us to head for home. As we were driving we were right behind a car with a fold down camper trailer. We noticed their wheel wobbling and Karen said we're staying back here that wheel is going to break and come off. If she had not stayed back it would have come right through the windshield! I believe that was my feeling.
Arrived home about 9:30 pm. safe and sound and very worn out. Lady was right there to greet me and couldn't stop dancing around. My son Kirk scared Charlie to death one day. Charlie came home from work and Lady was gone. Charla said Charlie was going everywhere looking for her. Kirk had come and got her for the day. Charlie said he'd soon cut off his head than face me if anything happened to my Lady. He's right you know!
I thank God for this safe travel and for bringing my granddaughter Jamie home safely. Now Geoffery will be leaving again in March. He is also a Sergeant. I am just so proud of my Grandchildren. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you Florida Marie

I had all my tests over the past couple of weeks, follow ups to my ops etc, and all my numbers were great, in fact some were the best I have had since I have been keeping copies of my blood tests etc. Also I now need less thyroid medication. I put this down to drinking more water, and we have also been having cold pressed flaxseed oil with protein every day, and I have been having cinnamon too, so between them, I am doing something right.

Doug hurt his back at work today. He pulled muscles all thru his back. He is in a lot of pain. He is on light duty for one week then they will see how he is doing. He was sitting in the bed of a pick up truck when the driver slammed into a concrete piling which tossed him forward then backward. To compound it, the driver ignored him when Doug told him he was hurt and proceeded to pick up the rest of the crew. By the time they got back to the office Doug couldn't move. His back was completely locked up. They had to help him out of the truck then a guy took him to a Doctor, stayed with him and brought him back to the plant to get his car. He even followed Doug into Deland to make sure he could drive home. He also let Doug use his cell phone to call me. Love and {{{{Hugs}}}}, Betsy, aka AngelBear from Florida

Hi all! I am finely home, I had my opp yesterday in the day hospital, they had trouble taking out the cyst. When I got back to recovery they were concerned with my very low blood pressure so they admitted me into a ward, where they monitored me over night, as the day went on my blood pressure when up and I was feeling fine, but little did I know I still had lots of antiseptic in me, and I had no pain, but was taking regular pain killers, I was sore and finding it very hard to move up and down.
The next morning the antiseptic wore off and I was in agony, and feeling quite ill, so I stayed in all day, they gave me extra pain killers and about 5pm they asked me if I wanted to go home. So Terry came to collect me and I had a couple of hours sleep and Benji getting a lot of fuss. I am feeling ok now, so I thought it was about time I let you all know how I am. Chrissie, from the U.K.

Something to Think About
submitted by Deanna
How do you live in gratitude? Begin your day by feeling grateful. Be grateful for the bed you just slept in, the roof over your head, the carpet or floor under your feet, the running water, the soap, your shower, your toothbrush, your clothes, your shoes, the car that you drive, your job, your friends, your refrigerator that keeps your food cold.
Be grateful for the weather, the sun, the sky, the birds, the trees, the grass, the rain, and the flowers. Be grateful for the stores that make it so easy to buy the things you need, the restaurants, the utilities and services and electrical appliances that make your life effortless. Be grateful for magazines and the books that you read. Be grateful for the chair that you sit on, and the pavement that you walk on. Our Furry Friends in the Spotlight
submitted by Jami
I thought I'd better start this weeks column off with an Introduction and explanation.
As all will find out (or already know) Sharon has taken back the newsletter, since Our Dear Pat who has done a super Job, has other more pressing issues to deal with now. Welcoming Sharon back in gracing us with her passion of Resuming the newsletter once again, I have been approached to start a news column for her. (Watch out all, your next! lol)
This column will feature one of our Member's most "Loyal Family Members". Yes, our furry little Children, whom never talk back, (well, unless their name is Sassy) Appreciate the smallest things we do for them, and give us Unconditional Love each and every day.
I will pick a new Pet each week and he/ she will be in the Spotlight.
I will be contacting the member whose pet I picked for the week on information and a picture of their furry child. I really am looking forward to this column, and do hope for 100% cooperation and help in making this column a success each and every week. If I do not email you for information, etc. I already have what I need for this particular Pet. If you wish for me to feature your furry child and would like for him/her to be in line sooner, Please do email me; Jami and I will be more than happy to put in sooner.
Now, without further Ado, let me please introduce our Very first Furry Child.
I chose this Fellow to be the first in the Spotlight because he was crowned our King in our Pet Photo Contest. For those who missed out Viewing the Contest etc. It is my pleasure to introduce "Sir Maxwell Smart." Sir Maxwell belongs to Members: Deanna and Michael Zimmer who resides in West Virginia, USA.
Here is Deanna's story of how Maxwell came into their lives.

Okay Maxwell.....
We went to an opening of a new pet store to get a Japanese goldfish. We went and looked at the puppies first. In one of the "getting to know the puppy" stalls, there was this cute little guy just bouncing off the walls. The woman that was trying to calm him down did not like him at all. Too active for her. Michael and I took him from her and it was instant love. We went into the stall, played with him and walked out with him. He was born on the day we left Virginia to fly back to California to pack after buying our home. But, I did not know anything about the breed and about 2 months later, I was thinking I had made a mistake. I found a wired terrier group on line and they helped me so much. These dogs are like 2 year olds their entire life. They never grow up. They have so much love in them and they are so loyal. When I had my mastectomies and went through chemo, Maxwell never left my side at home. Every hospital stay I've had, Michael will call me and Maxwell and his brother Scooter, will talk to me. Several months after my mastectomies, I was healed enough for prostheses so Michael and I went shopping. I came back to the house, wearing a bra and forms. We gate the dogs in the kitchen while we are away from the house so they don't get into trouble with mommy later. I walked to the gate, pulled up my top and told Maxwell that mommy was fixed. I have never seen a dog get so happy. He came to the gate, jumped up and starting looking and smelling at mommy's new chest. Even as I am typing this, I am crying. I can't even think about without the tears flowing. He was so happy for me. His brother came along to keep Maxwell from being lonely after I had to have Scruffy put down. We got Scooter the same way. We went to the same pet store to buy fish and saw this guy and that was it. He came home with us. It's been a delight having them both. They can be a handful at times and they love to bark but I am so happy I have had these little guys in my life. Maxwell has been a part of the family for 11 years in January and Scooter 7 1/2 years. What a wonderful story. And As luck should have it, Sir Maxwell Smart So deserved being the king of the Pet Contest. Not only for his looks, but also his Wonderful Personality. He sure has earned not only the "Crown" but also a set of "Wings".
Hope you all enjoyed this first issue of "Our Furry Friends". Please be sure and check out my Column each week, and Please, Please share with us your story !!
God Bless, and be sure and HUG YOUR PET TODAY.

Facts on HONEY and CINNAMON
Sent in by Cedar Vicki in Canada, Feb 2007
A mixture of Honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a "Ram Ban" (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.
Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients.
Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada, on its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by Honey and Cinnamon as researched by western scientists:
HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack.
Also those who already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack.
Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat.
In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

Crafts

Here's a nice easy craft that even children would love to do.
Puzzle Wreath Christmas Decoration
- 36 puzzle pieces from a used jigsaw puzzle
- green high gloss acrylic or lacquer spray paint
- small jar of high gloss red acrylic paint
- small round paint brush
- newspaper
- glue
- red ribbon
- gold braid string
Next lay out a ring of 9 pieces (painted side up) making sure that each piece is touching the other then make another layer gluing 9 pieces on top of the first nine staggering them so that each top piece is over lapping two of the bottom pieces.
Continue the process until there are 4 layers of 9 pieces. Allow the construction to dry overnight (if you are using a glue gun you can continue with next step after the glue has cooled)
With your red paint, dab three little dots of color in bunches around the wreath to make it appear that the wreath has berries.
Attach red ribbon with glue and tie gold string to top of ornament and hang.
Be sure to check out all the wonderful craft ideas in the WWWCOF Craft Site and lets get this group active and crafting. Any ideas, please send them my way. Add your own favourites or email me Deanna and I will be happy to add them to our ever growing collection.

Let's find out just how clever you really are....
Ready? GO!!!
First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?
Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!
Try not to screw up next time. Now answer the second question, but don't take as much time as you took for the first question, OK?
Second Question:
If you overtake the last person, then you are...?
Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST person?
You're not very good at this, are you?
Third Question:
Very tricky arithmetic! Note: This must be done in your head only . Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add an other 1000 . Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10. What is the total?
Did you get 5,000?
The correct answer is actually 4,100.
If you don't believe it, check it with a calculator! Today is definitely not your day, is it? Maybe you'll get the last question right ... Maybe.
Fourth Question:
Mary's father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?
Did you Answer Nunu? NO! Of course it isn't.
Her name is Mary. Read the question again!
Okay, now the bonus round:
A mute person goes into a shop and wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing his teeth he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done. Next, a blind man comes into the shop who wants to buy a pair of sunglasses; how does HE indicate what he wants?
HE just has to open his mouth and ask ...
It's really very simple.
Have a nice day everyone! Jeanette from the Land Down Under.

Just for Fun
This explains why I forward jokes.
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
'Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.'
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
'This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'
Soooo.
Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us without writing a word.
Maybe this will explain.
When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess what you do? You forward jokes.
When you have nothing to say, but still want to keep contact, you forward jokes.
When you have something to say, but don't know what, and don't know how, you forward jokes.
Also to let you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are still loved, you are still cared for, guess what you get?
A forwarded joke.
So, next time if you get a joke, don't think that you've been sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today and your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you a smile.
You are all welcome at my water bowl! Mary

Common Expressions - Origin & Meaning
Meaning: Nothing lasts forever.
Origin: From the Bible, Matthew 24:6-8 (King James Version):
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

I hope you have enjoyed this week's edition of Global Express. I look forward to chatting with you online and do keep those emails coming. I would like to close with some thoughts on Canadians; we realy are a peculiar people.
Most Canadians don't think much about the unique words we use that make us different from other English speakers around the world. Many of the words we use every day are made-in-Canada words or Canadianisms that would leave other English speaks mildly perplexed or totally bewildered.
"Canuks" have 17 different words to describe ice and 10 different type of canoes, never mind terms such as "qiviut" which is the soft wool from the underbelly of a muskox.
Only people fluent in Canadian would understand if you told them to put on a toque and dump a two-four of empties into their blue bin.
Those in the Great White North know that toques warm their heads, a two-four of beer will get them drunk and a blue bin holds their recycling.
If you are a visiting Vancouver and spot a sign in a window of an apartment building that read "Bachelor for rent" - you might think male prostitution is legal. You may be further confused by the names given to levels of amateur sport. Think about it; if you hear about a midget basketball game, you may expect something totally different that its intended meaning.

Told you - we are peculiar but to know us is to love us!
and if you would like more proof check this out:

The 2010 Winter Olympics will have not one, not two, but three official mascots and a marmot friend named Muk-Muk.
Each of the critters has a west coast feel. Miga the sea bear is a combination of an orca whale and the Kermode spirit bear. Quatchi's a sasquatch and Sumi is a mythical thunderbird spirit who loves to snowboard. Their side-kick is a marmot named Muk-Muk.
