Let's Do Lunch
A while back, our good friend Jeanette (from down under) introduced some of us to her friend Diane. Diane it seemed was making a trip to Canada, that included Niagara Falls. Well, of course having lived there, and still live not too far, it seemed logical to try to get together. So, after exchanging emails & my phone number it was agreed that that’s what we would do. She even sent me a copy of her itinerary so I’d be able to track her progress. According to Diane she would be in the Falls on July 19th.
Monday the 18th, came and I received a call from Diane. She said they were in Midland at the time, but would be in the Falls the next day, staying at the Renaissance Fallsview. Here is a shot of the hotel (from the back) which as you can see has a spectacular view of the Falls.

We agreed to meet the following evening at 7:00 p.m. for coffee. I said to her, how will we know each other? She told me they would be carrying sun hats (one blue & one yellow). And I told her I would be carrying a Canadian Flag (what else?)
The following day, I arrived in the Falls about 6:45, then drove around looking for a place to park. I forgot parking is always at a premium in the Falls, but found one about a block away at a reasonable price then I began my exciting walk to meet my new friends.
I found my way to the main Lobby, and just like that who pops her head out from the gift shop, but Diane! It was that simple! I waved my flag, and walked over to give her a hug. Around the corner, her sister Elaine was busy doing what else? Leaving an email!
They asked if I had eaten, which I had, but they hadn’t but I said I could take them someplace as I had my car. The girl in the shop suggested a lovely place down on Lundy’s Lane called Falls Manor Restaurant
Diane & Elaine had their supper, and I had a drink; we had a lovely visit, and chatted just as if we were old friends. (That seems to be a common theme for these lunches, we’ve already broken the ice online, so it was great meeting face to face).
I had gone to the $1 store and picked up a few souvenirs for them (all Canadian themed of course), and I gave Diane the flag. Then she gave me an incredible keepsake: a 2006 Commonwealth Games pin, which technically isn’t even available to the general public yet!
We had the girl in the shop take a picture of the three of us which is the picture at the top of this week's newsletter. Diane is on the left and Elaine on the right
And at the restaurant I took one of Elaine & Diane

All too soon it was time to leave. But it was such a pleasure meeting these ladies from down under, and who knows, maybe one day I’ll get to meet them again in Australia!
smile because it happened.

Thanks for the info on Jeanette. Will write her a note. My week has been crazy! The heat and humidity is almost unbearable today. I've been busy picking veggies, baking bread, making jam and dealing with one family crisis after another.
My sister has been up from Fla. for vacation and ended up in the hospital with a TIA. My niece ended up in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism, (she's pregnant also which complicates things), and my son and his girlfriend broke up after 5 years together. Her son got mad at my son and punched him in the mouth knocking out 2 teeth and splitting his mouth open. He went to the hospital and had to have 6 stitches to sew his lip up. I guess the guy had been drinking and totally lost his temper. So my son has had enough and finally decided to remove himself from what I have known all along was not a good situation for him. He is now staying in our spare bedroom till he can find a place. He is very depressed. He is trying to keep himself busy with work etc.
The good news is my youngest son is getting married on the 26th. They were going to wait till they had saved enough for a big party, but I told them why not just get married and we will have a BIG party next year for your first anniversary. They decided it was a good idea. So we're having a small family wedding here. I'm so happy for him. He's 33 and has been waiting for the "Right" girl. The are so in love.
So so far that's my week. Hope your's is going well. I'm headed for the pool as soon as I'm done with my email. We have to take my grandson to the mall tonight for new glasses and I'm sure glad we have air conditioning in the car. It's awful here in the country so I can just imagine what it will be like in the city. Thanks again for the update on Jeanette. Cindy
Welcome Home Bea
Good Morning.
While waiting for our new appliances, I thought i would tell you about our trip to NY.
Left florida on the 14 of July, spent 2 nights on the road, following this 26 foot u haul all the way ..... it is a very long trip when one can't see in front of yourself, lol except for a long truck. Speaking of trucks, we seen in PA, many, many accidents due to fog, many where tractors and trailers, tipped over, there must have been a chain reaction from all these trucks, many firetrucks, and ambulances too, awful accidents!
My kitty made the trip just fine, of course, we had to sedate him, he is adjusting well. I need to tell you about our welcome here .... there where 10 people here to help to unload the truck, even balloons saying welcome home, we missed you, hugs, well I got so may hugs, It sure felt great, almost cried ..
Pami and Alan came 50 miles to help us, JB's brother drove 45 minutes south to help as well, his family and my friends where a blessing .. we can't say enough THANK YOU. to all of them. Well I'll go for now. Bless everyone for their support. Bea
Fun & Games
Do you need a break? Global's got games! From crosswords and puzzle classics like Chess and Scrabble, to new favourites like Bejeweled, they've got it. Games ... now on canada.com. Get hooked!
Just to give you some idea of the fun we will be having at Reunion 2006 in Florida; here is a craft suggestion from Charla.
Miniature Birdbath
You'll need several 3" or 4" terra cotta pots and saucers; assorted colors of craft paint; brushes; a kitchen sponge cut into about 1" squares. Small decorative birds, tiny satin roses or other mini flowers and moss. Also a hot glue gun and plenty of glue sticks.
Base coat the pots and saucers a color of choice, let dry. Then sponge paint (a little or a lot) over that. Glue the saucer's bottom side to the pot's bottom side (does that make sense?) so you have a birdbath. Paint the inside of the saucer blue and let dry. Now squeeze a lot of hot glue into the saucer - about a good half inch but no more than that. Let set. Glue on the moss around the bottom of the birdbath, fix on some flowers. Glue the bird to the rim of the birdbath, or set him in the "water".
Fried Eggs
A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband. Suddenly her husband burst into the kitchen. "Careful ... CAREFUL! Put in some more butter!Oh my GOD! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK!Careful ... CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never!
Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT !
The wife stared at him. "What the heck is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?" The husband calmly replied, "I wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving ...

And so to you we pray
For all the things that you provide
Throughout each and every day ...
For the sun that shines and warms our hearts,
For the flowers and the trees,
For blue skies and oceans
And the wind's cool, gentle breeze.
Thank you for the nutrients
In all the things we eat.
We thank you for giving us shelter
And for the ground beneath our feet
We thank you for the rain that falls
Upon this wondrous land,
And for the fresh air that we breathe,
All created by your hand.
We pray that you'll protect our natural resources,
So that for generations to come
Your many children may still enjoy
All the blessings of your kingdom.
Amen.
If you would like to join the Planet Awareness team, we are a quick email away from including you. We can all do a bit, however small to improve conditions on our Earth.

Something to Think About
COWS - Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our Government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington, and they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.
CONSTITUTION - They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.
TEN COMMANDMENTS - The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse? You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.
And Last but not least .....
George Carlin said it best about Martha Stewart .. "Boy, I feel a lot safer now that she's behind bars. O.J. Simpson and Kobe Bryant are still walking around; Osama Bin Laden too, but they take the one woman in America willing to cook, clean, and work in the yard, and haul her ass off to jail."

I hope you have enjoyed this week's issue.
Have an awesome day, and know that someone who thinks you're great has thought about you today!
