- How are you?
- Everything all right?
- Like to hear from you.
- Love to see you soon.
- Obviously I miss you.
Well don't dispair help is on its way ... Rather than repeating your old resolutions this year, try some of these. You're bound to find a few that not only help you live a better life, but that you'll actually enjoy keeping!
In 2006, I resolve to:
- Smile more. Resolve to look at your reflection every day and give yourself the gift of a loving smile.
- Wind-up to unwind. Sometimes nothing helps you unwind better than a few minutes of silliness. Do you have any wind-up toys? When you feel a little stress wind them all up at the same time. It will make you happy!
- Make small changes. Changing one small thing can change everything. Find a tiny step you're willing to take now and pledge to do it, no matter how minor it may seem.
- Get curiouser and curiouser. The more you want to know about the world around you, the more passionate you become about your life. Curiosity also helps you stay open-minded and flexible.
- Make every step count. A pedometer can be the most motivational piece of exercise equipment you can own. I got one two years ago and every time I strap it on, I tend to walk longer and further, just to watch the miles and calories burned click off.
- Go au natural. Nature nourishes our bodies and souls. We spend most of our days surrounded with unnatural things: cubicle walls, wall-to-wall-carpet, technology. Keep in touch with nature by touching the earth every day.
- Make pleasure a priority. Write a list of things that bring you joy and make sure to do something from that list every week.
- Add more color. Choose your fruits and vegetables as you do your friends ... the more colorful the better.
- Water it down. We all know we should drink more water and less coffee, tea and soda, but it can be hard to make the substitution. You can make water more interesting by adding a drop of essential oil of peppermint, spearmint, or orange.
- Wake up happy. It's simple really ... before your feet hit the floor, say to yourself, "Today I choose happiness. I will find the bright side, the good things, and the beauty in this day."
- Schedule fewer extracurricular activities. Decide how many hours a week you have to invest in activities not related to your priorities and then sticking to that number.
- Buy power tools. Don't let the guys in your life have all the fun! There’s something empowering about owning your own power tool and knowing how to use it.
- Get fishy. Not only does eating fish reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and cancer, it can also improve your mood.
- Listen. We often think of communication skills as being the ability to say what we mean and mean what we say, but the art of communication is as much about closing our mouth as it is about opening it.
- Never end the day with the news. Make it a habit never to watch the news or anything of a violent nature immediately before going to bed. Sleep is a time to rest and become rejuvenated. Images of trauma can sear themselves into your brain and keep you awake or interrupt your dreams. Instead, end your day with something that makes you joyful.
- Become a morning person. Resolve to go to sleep thirty minutes earlier and get up thirty minutes earlier for meditation, journal writing, a quiet walk in nature, or just sitting on the porch listening to the birds sing.
- Schedule a "Fix It Day" once a month. If "it ain't broke, don't fix it", but if it is, put it on your schedule. If you can't fix it yourself, let a professional take care of it. Much of the clutter in our lives is a result of things that don't work piling up around the house.
- Put it on the calendar. Instead of spending your time and energy wondering if and when you should go in for preventive health tests. Sit down with a calendar, choose a date, and schedule your Pap smear, mammogram, and bone density tests, etc.
- Have a fashion show once every six months. Twice a year, drag all your clothes, shoes, and accessories out and model them for yourself. If they don't fit, don't suit your sense of style any more, or just never get worn, pack them off to a local charity.
- Make a new funny friend. Friendship is one of the healthiest things we do in our lives. Not only does having friends who make you laugh help you feel better in good times and bad, it also creates all kinds of healthy changes in your body . Whenever you meet someone who makes you laugh really hard this year, invite them out to lunch.

Recipe for a Happy Family
We need to remember to cook up a happy family along with all the other Christmas and holiday cooking we do.
Ingredients:
- 1 Heartful of Love
- 1 Portion of Understanding
- 2 Handsful of Generosity
- 1 Dash of Faith
- 1 Cup of Laughter
- 1 Heaping Tablespoon of Forgiveness
Combine ingredients, and stir frequently with tenderness. Sprinkle freely with kindness and serve daily to your family.
Cold Salmon Mousse
This is a favourite in my family ... they all love it and I make it when I am asked to bring a plate to a function; enjoy! it is very simple to make.
It is important not to buy the cheap Salmon in the tin but to get John West or a good brand .. these are what I use as the cheap ones have a lot of salt in them. Good luck Jeanette
- Two 220 gram or 7.5 ounces tins; best quality pink or red salmon ... I use red.
- 1 tablespoon gelatine
- 1/4 cup of water (hot)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry English style mustard (I use keens in a tin)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1 tablespoon horseradish relish
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 cup finely chopped celery
- 2 teaspoons chopped capers
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped spring onions
- 2 tablespoons bread and butter cucumbers
- 1/2 cup cream, lightly whipped.
Allow several hours to set. Turn onto a platter and serve with Cucumber; what I do here is to slice cucumber and then decorate the plate with the cucumber around the edge; you slice it thinly and then put a cut to the middle of the cucumber slice and twist the cucumber ... place them around the outside of the plate. You can place some prawns in the centre of the ring or you can put more cucumber in the centre.
This keeps for several days in the refrigerator.
Hope that this is clear if you have any questions please let me know.
Enjoy
I also serve as an entree ... cantaloupe or rock melon (depending on where you are from) sliced thinly with smoke salmon on top ... lovely.
Good luck! Jeanette from Melbourne - Australia
Enjoy the following:
1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.
2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman ... neither works.
4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.
5. Always drink upstream from the herd.
6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.
8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.
9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.
11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.
12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral:
When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.
ABOUT GROWING OLDER ...
First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.
Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.
Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.
Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.
Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.
Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.
And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

I hope you have enjoyed this week's issue.
Have an awesome day; take a moment to think of one of the members you have not met yet and take the time to email them and say hello and know that someone is thinking about you today too.
I would like to close off this newsletter with a New Years ultimate indulgence suggestion for you ... The Perfect Bath!
Head for the tub. Luxury is said to be "the total fulfilment of all five senses at once." Keep this in mind and you'll be amazed how good a long soak in your own tub can be.
Just a thought but wouldn't this make an excellent gift basket for a special person in your world ... a basket with a pretty towel or two, a mug with hot chocolate, a CD, some balt salts and candles ... be sure to include the article above!
Joy is an attitude
That comes through gratitude
