A warm welcome from Sharon,
founder of the Worldwide Circle of Friends

Hi everyone! I thought I would start this weekend issue with a message from Pat, aka Bigsis

After returning home from the reunion, I found myself feeling just a little lonely, and yes even depressed. It was SO QUIET! But as each day, passed I began to feel better and better.

To help make myself get back into the swing of things, I had to really throw myself into packing up my house. As some of you know, Darryl and I will be leaving the hustle and bustle of Niagara Falls, and moving to the picturesque and quiet community of Port Colborne.

To help get back in the mood for the move, we dicided to visit Port last Friday where they were celebrationg Canal Days. This is an annual even that is held in Port, and offers something for everyone.

We walked around looking at the vendors, checking out the Empire Sandy (Canada’s world famous Tall Ship).

Finally we stopped at one of the local “watering holes” who during the festivities had an outdoor bar set up. There we feasted on fish and chips that featured fresh Lake Erie Perch, and listened to a wonderful duo who played some excellent music.

Afterwards we visited a fabulous Candy Store, where We got ice Cream and Darryl bought me some fudge!

In our stolls around town, I discovered several new thrift shps and Dollar Stores, so I will be all set once the move is done.

I thought I’d introduce you to my new town, so I’m including a little info about Port Colborne and Canal Days, complete with pictures and even an area map.

A lot of our members are moving this year or have moved already. Would love to hear your stories and learn all about your new corner of the globe!

  • August 3/04 - I've just been browsing through your newsletter and all the pictures of the reunion. You have no idea how badly I feel about missing it and how disappointed not to have been able to visit with you!

Bill was so sick that when he picked me up in Toronto after my tests we just turned right around and came home and he went to bed for two days. He's still coughing quite a bit and has no energy but I think he's finally on the mend. He really felt terrible about spoiling the weekend and sends his apologies. I know he couldn't help being sick but his timing was really bad!!

I had ordered some pens that I was going to pick up in Tilbury so if they're available I'll send payment to whoever should be paid. Please let me know.

Looking forward to hearing more about the party and again, our apologies for not being there.

    Mary & Bill

  • August 4/04 - I too am a Sponge Bob Square Pants. But some of the questions didn't list my favorites, so had to take second best. Fran

News & Announcements

  • During the reunion we exchanged lapel pins from various places and this has really enhanced the collection of those of us who already have collections and it has started a new "collection" for a lot of the WWWCOF Members. During a chat in Messenger the other day we thought it would be fun to have a WWWCOF Pin Club.

Another collection that spread like wildfire throughout the Reunion was the collection of charms for the "Italian Charm Bracelets". We had so much fun doing this and would like to start a WWWCOF Charm Club.

Our Swap Queen has volunteered to be in charge of these two clubs and do expect more news on these as time goes on but do be sure to email Ruth to get your name on the list or for more details.

    FEATURED SITE

    • Bea has come up with a new line of aprons that she would like to share with us. I wonder if she would consider coming up with a specialty line for the World Wide Web Circle of Friends?

    • Daphne's CD

The Circle's Little Book of Tips 'n Things was unveiled at Reunion 2004 in July and it is absolutely wonderful! I love my copy and refer to it often. Thank you to the Lunda family for taking on such a monumental task.

It is a system where you can scroll down in the normal way, flip through it page by page, or use a menu to reach the things you want. The CD comes controlled for virus, and contains two "very special surprises".

This book/cd is a natural follow up to “Daphne’s Little Black Book”, which is a bilingual (English & Spanish) book made up of things picked up here and there over a number of years. This book/cd, on the other hand, of Tips and Things, is almost exclusively compiled from the computer, internet and e-mail messages and is dedicated to the World Wide Web Circle of Friends.

Many of the members sent in ideas and the book was put together by Daphne, (Argentina) coordinated by Ruth, (USA) and Sharon (Canada), and the cover is an exclusive design by Pat - Daisy (England) before any of us had actually met.

Reserve your copy of this CD now by contacting Daphne. Cost is only $7.50 US plus shipping. Copies of Daphne's Little Black Book are also available. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to the Circle Friendship Fund.

    Lets Do Lunch

This Let's do Lunch" thing is becoming contagious!

I am going on a cruise in January and talked with Sheena from WWWCOF. She lives and works in Nassau, Bahamas. We are hoping to meet, have lunch and have our pic taken for us and WWWCOF. This is such a great opportunity to meet people. Christine

    ------------

Anyone else planning a "Lets Do Lunch"?

    • You used to have a "News from..." and various members were correspondents. Mine was Canada (I think) and I mostly sent stuff from Niagara Falls.

Perhaps we should break Canada up into regions and I could do Canada/Ontario?

We have Eastern Canada, Western Canada, the Prairie Folks and the Maritimers!

Then of course we have the United States of America, etc.

      What do you think?

      Pat, aka Bigsis
