Online Newsletter
Happy August Everyone!
- How are you?
- Everything all right?
- Like to hear from you.
- Love to see you soon.
- Obviously I miss you.
I thought it would be nice to start this week's newsletter off with this website with pictures of a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa that Lena from Ontario sent along . It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scroll down and check out the multiple photos (all angles) of the rock. The flag is actually painted on the rock too.
Continuing along on this topic -- Cindy from the USA sent a picture of the new U.S. postage stamp that will be issued in September.

- Just a note to say Kirk had his rupture operation just fine and at
home now recovering. Thank everyone for their prayers. Florida Marie.
- We got a good report on Dad today. The shadow they see in his lungs is enphysema not cancer. I know it is not good but at least not cancer. He does however, have a mass on his left renal glad that needs further attention. I know it will be ok. Just please keep the prayers going and thank you for the ones thus far.
My brother Kirk is doing well. Somewhat sore but doing fine. He will be up & about soon.
Love to all and May God Bless Charla & Florida Marie.
- It seems so many of our WWWCOF have been needing prayer. This site has given me peace at times when I needed it.
I hope it can do the same for my dear friends also. Sometimes we just need to go to that quiet place and give our sorrows to God.
We try to handle everything ourselves. He needs us to need Him. It's when I've been at my lowest that He has been the closest to me.
I hope this is as soothing to all as it has been to me. Cindy from the USA
- Arlene from the USA would like us to share this Blue Sky with everyone we know!

Something to Think About
A dog had followed his owner to school.
His owner was a fourth grader at a public elementary school.
When the bell rang, the dog sidled inside the building and made it all the way to the child's classroom with him before a teacher noticed him and shoo'ed him back outside, and closing the door behind him.
The dog sat down outside the door, whimpering and staring at the closed doors and not understanding in the least as to why he was refused entry.
Then - God appeared beside the dog, patted him on the head to comfort him, and said, "Don't feel bad fella'.... they won't let ME in there either."

Memories
In the kitchen on the wall we only had one phone,
And no need for recording things, someone was always home.
We only had a living room where we would congregate,
Unless it was at mealtime in the kitchen where we ate.
We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine,
When meeting as a family those two rooms would work out fine.
We only had one TV set, and channels maybe two,
But always there was one of them with something worth the view.
For snacks we had potato chips that tasted like a chip,
And if you wanted flavor there was Lipton's onion dip.
Store-bought snacks were rare because my mother liked to cook,
And nothing can compare to snacks in Betty Crocker's book.
Weekends were for family trips or staying home to play,
We all did things together -- even go to church to pray.
When we did our weekend trips depending on the weather,
No one stayed at home because we liked to be together.
Sometimes we would separate to do things on our own,
But we knew where the others were without our own cell phone.
Then there were the movies with your favorite movie star,
And nothing can compare to watching movies in your car.
Then there were the picnics at the peak of summer season,
Pack a lunch and find some trees and never need a reason.
Get a baseball game together with all the friends you know,
Have real action playing ball -- and no game video.
Remember when the doctor used to be the family friend,
And didn't need insurance or a lawyer to defend?
The way that he took care of you or what he had to do,
Because he took an oath and strived to do the best for you
Remember going to the store and shopping casually,
And when you went to pay for it you used your own money?
Nothing that you had to swipe or punch in some amount,
Remember when the cashier person had to really count?
The milkman used to go from door to door,
And it was just a few cents more than going to the store.
There was a time when mailed letters came right to your door,
Without a lot of junk mail ads sent out by every store.
The mailman knew each house by name and knew where it was sent;
There were not loads of mail addressed to "present occupant."
There was a time when just one glance was all that it would take,
And you would know the kind of car, the model and the make.
They didn't look like turtles trying to squeeze out every mile;
They were streamlined, white walls, fins, and really had some style.
One time the music that you played whenever you would jive,
Was from a vinyl, big-holed record called a forty-five.
The record player had a post to keep them all in line,
And then the records would drop down and play one at a time.
Oh sure, we had our problems then, just like we do today,
And always we were striving, trying for a better way.
Oh, the simple life we lived still seems like so much fun,
How can you explain a game, just kick the can and run?
And why would boys put baseball cards between bicycle spokes,
And for a nickel red machines had little bottled jokes?
This life seemed so much easier and slower in some ways,
I love the new technology but I sure miss those days.
So time moves on and so do we, and nothing stays the same,
But I sure love to reminisce and walk down memory lane.

As the dog days of summer heat up, don't be left sweating over your electric bill while trying to stay cool. Beat the heat of the long days while playing a crucial role in conserving energy. Beat the heat this summer with these cool tips from the Government of Canada's One-Tonne Challenge website:
- Use compact fluorescent lighting wherever you can. They use very little energy and produce much less heat than incandescent and halogen lights. In general, you will find lower indoor lighting levels more pleasant in warm weather.
- Turn on your range fan when cooking to exhaust heat from your home. Coordinate meal planning with the seasons. Remember, nothing tastes better than a cold salad on a hot day.
- String up a clothesline instead of using the dryer. You'll save money and your clothes will smell summertime-fresh.
- Install window coverings and put up drapes and blinds to keep the heat out during the day.
- Run water over your wrists and you will feel cooler almost instantly, regardless of the temperature. Or, jump into a cold shower every few hours – the amount of extra water used is negligible compared to electricity saved.
We really need more cooperation and help with the with the Planet Kryzys site. If you would like to join the Planet Awareness team, we are a quick email away from including you. We can all do a bit, however small to improve conditions on our Earth.
