Summer holidays soon will be over and Autumn is just around the corner. Autumn is such a fun time to decorate! The color schemes are warm, rich and comforting, and create the perfect backdrop as warm temperatures cool and we begin spending more time gathered indoors together. Do you have a theme in mind for Autumn that you would like to share with us?

I would like to start this week's edition off with something that Linda from Alabama has sent in.

SPECIAL POEM FOR SENIOR CITIZENS!!

A row of bottles on my shelf
Caused me to analyze myself.
One yellow pill I have to pop
Goes to my heart so it won't stop.
A little white one that I take
Goes to my hands so they won't shake.
The blue ones that I use a lot
Tell me I'm happy when I'm not.
The purple pill goes to my brain
and tells me that I have no pain.
The capsules tell me not to wheeze
Or cough or choke or even sneeze.
The red ones, smallest of them all
Go to my blood so I won't fall.
The orange ones, very big and bright
Prevent my leg cramps in the night.
Such an array of brilliant pills
Helping to cure all kinds of ills.
But what I'd really like to know ...........
Is what tells each one where to go!

There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.

Pets

Candy from Vancouver Island, Canada would like to share these pictures of the latest additions to the Lafond Family!

Candy's brother & his lovely wife's "little girl" had 5 puppies. They are about 3 weeks old in these pictures.

Recycling Tips

  • Another Reuse For Baby Food Jars, Take the lids off the baby food jars and nail them to a board; then nail the board to the bottom of a shelf in a workshop. Put all kings of things in them like screws, nails ... whatever. Crafters can paint the board if wanted and put pins, beads or anything that will fit. Very handy and you can see right through the jar for what you want. Acetone (or even nail polish remover) will help remove the labels.
  • Use empty Rx bottles when travelling. Use them for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand lotion, anything that can be put in smaller bottles. Even if you have to use more than one bottle, it's a lot easier than taking the huge ones, and a lot easier to pack. Then after you use them you can just toss them!
The Circle's Planet Awareness site is continually updated so do check it out and email your thoughts to Daphne from Argentina today!

Humour

The best response for a telemarketer that Charla from Florida has ever heard:

The phone rang as I was setting down to my anticipated evening meal, and as I answered it I was greeted with, "Is this Wilhiam Wagenhoss?" This didn't sound anything like my name, so I asked, "Who is calling?"

The telemarketer said he was with The Rubberband-Powered Freezer Company or something like that and then I asked him if he knew Wilhiam personally and why was he was calling this number. I then said off to the side, "Get really good pictures of the body and all the blood."

I then turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to appear in the local courthouse to testify in this murder case.

I then questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call.

The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in a shaky voice.

I proceeded to tell him we had located his position at his work place and the police were entering the building to take him into custody. At that point, I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away.

My wife asked me as I returned to our table, why I had tears streaming down my face and so help me, I couldn't tell her for about fifteen minutes.

My meal was cold, but oh-so-very enjoyable.

I hope you have enjoyed this week's issue which I would like to close with TO THE WONDERFUL WOMEN IN MY CIRCLE which was sent to us from Lena in Ontario.

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend, and then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend's best is needed when you're going through things with your children. Another friend's best is needed when you're going through things with your mom. Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.

One friend will say let's pray together, another let's cry together, another let's fight together, another let's walk away together.

One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings.

But what ever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or where ever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself... those are your friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many it's wrapped up in several... one from 7th grade, one from high school, several from the college years, a couple from old jobs, several from church, on some days your mother, on others your sisters, and on some days it's the one that you needed just for that day or week that you needed someone with a fresh perspective, or the one who didn't know all your baggage, or the one who would just listen without judging... those are good girlfriends/best friends.

I thank my girlfriends, those who honor intimacy, those who hold trust, and those who hold me up when life is just too heavy! The special bond we share is unique.

Thanks for the words we've shared. The prayers we've sent up. The laughs, the tears, the phone calls, the emails, the shopping, the movies, the lunches, the dinners, the talking, talking, talking and the listening, listening, listening ....

So whether you've been there 20 minutes or 20 years, I love you!
