- How are you?
- Everything all right?
- Like to hear from you.
- Love to see you soon.
- Obviously I miss you.
Florida Marie sent this to me and I thought it would be a great way to start of this week's Global Express!
In the dim and distant past
When life's tempo wasn't so fast,
Grandma used to rock and knit,
Crochet, tat and baby sit.
When the kids were in a jam,
They could always call on Gram.
But today she's in the gym
Exercising to keep slim.
She's checking the web or surfing the net,
Sending some e-mail or placing a bet.
Nothing seems to stop or block her,
Now that Grandma's off her rocker.

- This is about Jordan, the young man who had the diving accident. Quadriplegic feeds his competitive needs. We were all keeping in touch with him via email. He's certainly come a long way huh? Love Char from Florida.
- Pete is doing fine. Friday
night around dinner time they had to do any emergency
angiogram as Pete was having constant chest pains.
When they went in they found nothing and told him that
it was better to be safe than sorry.
He is finding that if he moves too fast or goes up and down the stairs to much that it takes alot out of him. They put three stents in and they are apparently the best stents you can get as they were out of "the every day stents" as the nurse put it to Pete.
Tell everyone thank you for the prayers and best wishes. Talk to you soon. Billie from Ontario.
The dates for Reunion 2006 have been announced so mark them down on your calendars. This historic event will take place March 17th (St. Patrick's Day) to March 20th, 2006.
Rosina from Nova Scotia was thinking of going to the reunion in 2006 ..but best made plans of mice and men, her daughter informed her that she is pregnant and is expecting the week of the reunion, so there goes that plan . Instead she will be going to Ontario and looking after her little one while she is in hospital and afterwards for a few weeks.

Something to Think About
Here is a pretty neat little thing from Paul Harvey.
- We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better.
- I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.
- I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.
- I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.
- And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.
- It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.
- I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.
- I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him.
- When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him/her.
- I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.
- On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom.
- If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.
- I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.
- When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.
- I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a boy\girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like.
- May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.
- I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend.
- I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.
- May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays.
- I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Hannukah/Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.
- These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.
- We secure our friends, not by accepting favors, but by doing them.

Tips & Suggestions
Crisis takes many forms (you have a child serving in the war in Iraq, recently lost a loved one or have no way to pay the mortgage this month). Its impact is felt deeply. We feel helpless, we feel sad, we feel overwhelmed. Some of us are in crisis right now, for others, the images flashing across the TV screen are bringing up painful memories from the past.
Shaky marriages, divorce, death, illness, accidents, terrorist threats, war arouse in us a crisis response. What happens when crisis or trauma impacts people's lives? How can we prepare and respond to crisis?
It is important to differentiate between a problem and a crisis:
- A problem is something you can do something about. A problem is a situation presenting difficulty or uncertainty which needs resolution.
- A crisis of life is a highly volatile or dangerous situation/emergency requiring immediate remedial action. A crisis is usually something you can do nothing about. A crisis occurs when a stressful life event overwhelms an individual's ability to cope effectively in the face of a perceived challenge or threat.
What are some practical interventions for coping with crisis and fear?
- Share your story and your reactions. Begin to process the grief.
- Seek help and resources within your church and community or professional counseling if needed.
- Take care of yourself through exercise, nutrition and relaxation.
- Surround yourself with family, friends and support.

There are people out there who have artistic ability. And then there's the rest of us. Whatever category you fall under, you can stencil a wall or border. How many avenues of self-expression do we have that is on display directly on the wall? One way to express your individual taste is to have art on your walls-literally. One way to break up a plain wall is to stencil designs on it. There are many designs to choose from. Let this article on how to stencil a wall or border assist you with this project.
Hello Everyone.
Climate change, global warming, more intense and more frequent natural disasters, animal species in danger, the need to cut down on waste are all very closely related. Our Circle runs its own site on these subjects (and sites on many others too) We can and should do all we can to help our planet, the only one we have. We can all do our small part... after all a sandy beach is only so thanks to each individual grain of sand. We would like to know what is (or what is not) going on in your area, with respect to recycling, alternative energies, protection of animals ...........
The Circle's Planet Awareness site is continually updated and this week in the alternative energies section and the recycling section.
This weekend in Mar del Plata there is a ceremony for "Pacha Mama" (Mother Earth) This is still a strong tradition with the Andes people and the ceremony is carried out by a descendant of the Incas, who says that the importance of the event lies in the fact that we need to say thanks to Mother Earth, since everything we have comes from her.... our clothing, our food, our building materials etc. The day of the ceremony begins by perfuming the air around to get rid of the bad energy inhabiting the earth. Then permission is asked of Mother Earth to dig a hole, representing the mouth to feed her, as she feeds us. People around deposit thing in and around the hole, as if symbolically feeding the Earth or giving back something taken out.
It might seem primitive to some, but I think it makes good sense, especially as the person goes on to say "It is time people listened to Mother Earth's cry for help" She says, that natural disasters that are happening one after another, are not in vain. Mother Earth is telling us something but no one listens, she cries out to us but no one hears, or doesn't want to hear. and she insists that everyone should look out for and care for our Earth, protect it and conserve it, for ourselves and future generations.
Thanks everyone, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these things. Daphne from Argentina

Cindy requests that all our USA members please read the following very important message about Breast Cancer legislation - Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill.
There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the "drive-through mastectomy" where women are forced to go home hours after surgery against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia a and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on this web site. You need not give more than your name and zip code number.
I hope you have enjoyed this week's issue which I would like to close with the following Recipe for Friendship that I received from Maxine from Ontario.
Recipe for How To Be a Good Friend
- 1 tongue that does not slander
- 1 heart, generous and kind
- 1 dash of wit
- 2 eyes, overlooking others faults
- 1 dash sunny disposition 2 ears, closed to gossip
- 1 mind, full of tolerance
- 1 large dash of smiles
- 2 hands extended to help others
- 1 dash of cheerfulness
I believe each of us can accomplish much good -- wonderfully good things that would benefit ourselves and others, far greater things than we even dare imagine ... if we could just quit underestimating ourselves. Dare to believe in yourself, dare to believe in your possibilities, and I dare say you will not regret it.
