Hello everyone!

I would like to start this week's edition off by sharing this email from Florida Marie:

HOW TRUE IT IS

Another year has passed and we're all a little older.
Last summer felt hotter and winter seems much colder.

There was a time not long ago when life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand about "Living in the Past"

We used to go to weddings, football games and lunches.
Now we go to funeral homes, and after-funeral brunches.

We used to have hangovers, from parties that were gay.
Now we suffer body aches and while the night away.

We used to go out dining, and couldn't get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags, come home and take a pill.

We used to often travel to places near and far.
Now we get sore asses from riding in the car.

We used to go to nightclubs and drink a little booze.
Now we stay home at night and watch the evening news.

That, my friend is how life is, and now my tale is told.
So, enjoy each day and live it up...
before you're too damned old!

DISCLAIMER: What happening in your corner of the globe that you would like to share with us. Send it to me and I will be happy to publish it in the newsletter.

Funny, but oh so true ;))))

We Must Stop This Immediately!

Have you noticed that Stairs are getting steeper. Groceries are heavier. And, everything is farther away.. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!

And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection.........Well, REALLY NOW-even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them.. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.

Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20? Do they think no one notices that these things no longer fit around the waist, hips, thighs, and bosom?

The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank, but in reverse. Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial? HA! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're fooling?

I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in here!

All I can do is pass along this warning: We are under attack! Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO WE CAN GET THIS CONSPIRACY STOPPED!

PS: I am sending this to you in a larger font size, because something has caused my computer's fonts to be smaller than they once were too

    "CLOUDS PASS BY"

AS I SIT AND SIP MY COFFEE. I LOOK INTO THE SKY.I WATCH EACH CLOUD AND IT'S SHAPE AS IT PASSES BY. I HEAR YOU SING AND I START TO CRY AS I SEE YOUR CROWN OF LACE. I KNOW YOU'RE THERE TO WAIT FOR ME, BECAUSE I SEE YOUR FACE. THE RAIN BEGINS AND AS IT FALLS I FEEL IT IS YOUR TEARS. BUT SOON MY INFANT IT WILL STOP AND WE'LL BE FULL OF CHEERS. THE SKY IS SO QUIET, SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO BLUE. WHEN I SIT AND WATCH, IT ALWAYS REMINDS ME OF YOU. I KNOW YOU HAVE A SPECIAL CLOUD, WHERE YOU SIT AND LOOK AT ME. A SPECIAL PLACE YOU CAN GO, AND SEE DOWN THROUGH THE TREES. YOU SEE MY EYES AND FEEL MY LOVE AND HEAR MY HEART BEAT THERE. I KNOW YOU'RE CLOSE AND HEAR MY THOUGHTS AND CAN NO MATTER WHERE. BUT NOW IT'S TIME TO SIP NO MORE BUT LET MY HEART FEEL LOVE. TO WATCH THE CLOUDS AND SEE THE SKY AND KNOW YOU'RE THERE ABOVE.

MY SARAH WOULD BE 34 YEARS OLD THE 24TH OF THIS MONTH. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME AND FORTUNATE FOR HER, GOD CALLED HER HOME WHEN SHE WAS BORN. AT THIS TIME EVERY APRIL I GET OVERWHELMED AT WHAT SHE WOULD HAVE LOOKED LIKE, WHO SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN AND WHAT OUR RELATIONSHIP WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE. I ALWAYS LITE A CANDLE THE WEEK BEFORE HER BIRTH/DEATH DATE JUST FOR HER. I KNOW SHE IS STILL A TINY LITTLE THING WITH HER LITTLE WINGS TRYING TO FLY WITH THE OTHER ANGELS IN GOD'S PLAYGROUND. I SEE HER LITTLE CROWN OF STARS COCKED ON HER HEAD AS IT IS A BIT BIG FOR HER. AND MOST OF ALL I SEE HER BRITE AND SHINNING EYES WITH THAT BIG SMILE AND HER LIPS SHAPED LIKE A TINY HEART. SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE A TRIBUTE TO MY LITTLE ANGEL AND THAT I LOVE HER AS MUCH TODAY AS THE DAY SHE WAS BORN. I LOVE YOU SARAH

KITCHEN HINTS FOR TEA:

  • Begin with cold water when brewing tea.
  • Never boil tea.
  • To prevent bitter tasting tea, remove tea bags after tea has steeped.
  • Use simple syrup to sweeten large quantities of tea.
  • When preparing iced tea for a crowd, vary the flavor by adding 6 ounces of frozen lemonade to 1 gallon of tea.
  • Make ice cubes with leftover tea. These cubes added to a drink will not dilute the beverage. You can do this with ice coffee, soda, lemonade, all juices and even make cider ice cubes.
  • Freeze fruit juice for ice cubes-add to tea ad garnish with springs of fresh mint.
  • Ice tea requires half as much sugar if sweetened hot, rather than cold.
  • Flavor sugar lumps for tea. Drop tiny bits of lemon juice on the sugar cubs to be used in the tea. Be careful not to dissolve the sugar. You can also try orange or lime juice.
  • For extra flavor, store tea bags in a jar with a citrus peel, vanilla bean or cinnamon sticks.
  • For varied punch flavors, try using decaf teas.

I hope you have enjoyed this week's issue which I would like to close with something Daphne from Argentina picked up somewhere!

How did Christopher Columbus discover America?
Because he was SINGLE!!!

Well, just imagine what would have happened had he had a wife.........

  • Come off it! Don’t be ridiculous! How can YOU discover America)
  • Christopher, if you keep on saying stupid things like the world is round, they’ll lock you up in a nut house.
  • And WHY do you have to spend so much time away from home???
  • And you’re trying to tell ME they are all going to be men???
  • So WHY can’t I go!
  • You come up with any old excuse to get away from home!
  • And just who is this Maria, “La Pinta” and .... “La Niña”?????
  • And on top of everything you tell me this ..... woman sold all her jewels just because you came up with a tale??
  • Don’t come back drunk, or you sleep outside. Do you hear me?
  • And you are going in those clothes!! You look like the jack of Spades!
  • Christopher!! Leave me some money.....
  • YOU AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE!!
Okay, anyone who says they haven’t heard similar things is telling a lie. Hahaha!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK
